THE STORY OF COACHING THROUGH CRISES
Coaching Through Crises came from a conversation in the Animas Coaching Lounge, the Facebook group, in 2022. This also marked the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Co-founders Elizabeth Papalia and Sean Bennett had both previously expressed a desire to use coaching in the context of Syrian refugees, months earlier, but it was the size and international implications of the war in Ukraine that acted as a final catalyst for others to get involved. The idea quickly gained traction and, throughout 2022, Elizabeth and Sean spent time brainstorming the best possible uses of coaching in the context of the refugee experience: job-seeking, network-building, language acquisition, daily and weekly plans, education, etc.. It was then that the very name Coaching Through "Crises" (plural) led them to an expansion of the definition. It would now include homelessness, war veterans, and other crisis-afflicted groups. As of 2023, Coaching Through Crises seeks partnership with charities, NGOs, and other advocacy campaigns or groups. It welcomes ALL volunteers - principally coaches, therapists, counsellors and mentors, but also anybody with any skill (be it blogging, vlogging, social media management) in order for us to expand and meet our mission: to get every coach and mental healthcare professional in the world to sign up to an hour or two per week to help those in critical need.
